Irene Weigel, 77, of Edgeley, ND passed away on November 11, 2023, at Eventide, Jamestown ND, with her family by her side.
Irene Rose Fischer was born May 2, 1946, in McHenry County, ND, the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Scholastica (Volk) Fischer. She attended rural school and graduated from Shanley High School, Fargo ND.
Irene was united in marriage to Anton F. (Tony) Weigel on November 4, 1972, in Fargo ND. The couple made their home in Edgeley.
Irene worked for Fargo Assembly in Edgeley for many years. She was a member of the Transfiguration Catholic Church and Alter Society. Irene enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, canning, bingo, puzzles, playing cards and especially her grandchildren.
Irene is survived by her husband, Anton (Tony) of 51 years; her four children; Lisa (Cory) Zachrison, Jamestown ND; Joseph (Katrina) Weigel, Edgeley ND; Lynda (Derek) Carlson, Jamestown ND; and Jason (Alecia) Weigel, Edgeley ND; Five grandchildren: Cody, Wyatt and Alyssa Zachrison, Tara and Logan Carlson; Foster Granddaughter Samarah; her brother, Andrew Fischer, Fargo, ND; sisters Francis (Richard) Bannerman, Moorhead, MN; Angie Anderson, Grand Forks, ND; foster brother, Douglas Sevigny, Fort Totten, ND and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; foster parents, Wilfrid and Marcella Sevigny; sister Maggie Few; brother, Joseph Fischer; foster brother, Timothy Sevigny; brother -in-laws, Raymond Anderson, Harley Few, Frank Weigel Jr, Victor Weigel, John (Jack) Cardwell; and nephew Dennis Fischer.
Mass of Christian Burial – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, with Father Jake Miller, celebrant.
Prayer Service – 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023 at the church.
Visitation – 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday at the church.
