Obituary

Allen James Wald, 76, of Edgeley, North Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, June 17th, at home surrounded by his family.

Allen was born in Edgeley, North Dakota, to parents Sebastian and Lutzia (Moch) Wald. Allen attended Edgeley High School and graduated in 1961. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1965. He then furthered his education at Iowa State University graduating with a Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering degree in 1968. His education was very important to him and allowed him to travel abroad to Europe, Saudi Arabia, and British Columbia.

After graduating from college, Allen returned home to the family farm. He married Debra Sue Thomas on December 30, 1982. They purchased the farm and lovingly raised seven children together there.

Allen had so much love for the farm and was proud to raise his family on the land his parents worked so hard for. He led his family by faith and example. He spent many hours teaching his children and grandchildren the things he felt they needed to know, not only farm lessons, but life lessons as well. He believed in good old-fashioned hard work. He was a very intelligent man who could fix or build anything. He could weld and engineer like no other and used his talents to help fellow farmers and neighbors over the years. He enjoyed his tractor tire business of 30 years and the fact that he got to travel locally and meet and help others. He had so many life experiences and stories he liked to tell anyone that was interested! He loved getting to know others and enjoyed a heartfelt story. He cherished his faith, family, friends, and farming. He was a lifetime and active member of the Transfiguration Catholic Church in Edgeley. He was a faithful servant. He was a gentle, kind-hearted soul and is missed dearly.

Allen is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debra; children Sebastian (Brittany) Wald of Rolla, ND; Krista (Jared) Christensen of LaMoure, ND; Alana (Hans) Wagner of Crookston, MN; Lucas (Jill) Wald of Edgeley, ND; Candace (Cory) Barrett of Mandan, ND; and Angelea Wald of Jamestown, ND. He is also survived by two sisters, Rosemary Lubenow and Phyllis Jerstad, several nieces and nephews, and sixteen grandchildren (whom he adored). He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Olivia Regene, his parents, and five siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, with Father Miller officiating.

Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.

Arrangements are in the care of Williams Funeral Home, Edgeley.
